Hello all! The site will be going down at about 10 pm EST tonight for some maintenance and reorganization. It should only be a few hours, so if you see a site in our network not responding for a little while, don't worry! We'll be back. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Update! We'll be going down a bit tonight as well. Sorry for all the back and forth!

Melissa,
A few years ago, I worked as an assistant in the I.T./computer department for a government agency. My stint there only lasted a year, because I felt so frustrated with our inability to keep up with the hackers and the need for daily upgrades and firewall protection, etc.

Also, every month our server would bog down due to the constant addition of data. Even just considering employee emails, the fact that people rarely if ever delete anything forces the need to expand the database capacity (memory, etc) simply to hold the backlog of information! Crazy.

As for sites that have existed for several years (such as Leaky) it is difficult to imagine the volume of stored information on the server. Even though I have missed being on Leaky for the past several days, I’d like to send my appreciation to you and your volunteers for wading through the difficult task of keeping this site up and running for us all to enjoy.

The Fan Art Gallery is still not available. If you got to Galleries> Fan Art you are sent straight back to the Leaky home page.

PollyC – thanks so much for that comment. :) You are right. the backlog is ABSOLUTELY ENORMOUS. And intricate. The galleries alone are 150GB. Moving all of this has been… a job. Super!Alex has been on the case again, like old times. :)

@Melissa: It sounds like a huge job, I can’t imagine how complex it must be. Good luck with all of it, and thanks for the information.
